Palette Knife Create is our classic take-home art workshop.

This two-hour workshop is where you will paint a finished artwork – guided step-by-step using a palette knife.

Escape winter in this June session with a little burst of summer warmth as we create a striking tropical floral piece inspired by the bold structure and colour of exotic blooms (last year’s strelitzia workshop was a favourite!).

Tropical flowers are wonderfully structure, making them ideal for learning how to paint strong forms with a palette knife – even if you’re completely new.

You’ll learn how to:
• Use the edge of the knife to create expressive and sculptural petals
• Layer rich colour to build depth and contrast
• Control shape and form using confident knife strokes
• Create texture that brings your flower to life!

Whether you’re completely new or have painted before this session is designed to feel achievable even if you haven’t used a palette knife before.

You’ll leave with:
• A completed bold floral artwork to take home
• Greater confidence in painting with a palette knife
• Techniques you can use for future creative works

No experience necessary – if you can butter toast, I can show you how to paint with a palette knife!

Do I need prior painting experience to attend a workshop?

No prior experience is usually necessary. Workshops cater to all skill levels from beginners to experienced artists – if you can butter toast, I can show you how to paint with a knife!

Can children attend these workshops?

No, you need to be 14 and over to attend. However, I will be offering school holiday workshops during the year, perfect for kids to come and explore their creativity.

Can I cancel a workshop?

Due to limited number of spaces, I will not be able to refund cancellations less than 72 hours before a workshop. You can, of course, pass your ticket onto a friend if you can’t make it, but please just let me know by email beforehand.

Is there wheelchair access?

Yes, there is wheelchair access at The Olive Branch Studio at Urban Co-Lab.

Can I bring my carer’s / therapy dog?

Yes, of course, The Olive Branch Studio at Urban Co-Lab is a dog-friendly venue.
